Activity | Naming Waters

Updated: Feb 22, 2025

Water etches itself into our psyches, leaving indelible ripples. It cleans and hydrates us and is also a destination in our lives. Traveling, fishing, boating, camping, annual family trips, the pounding of waves at the beach, the quiet sound of lapping lake water and loons…

Waters become a backdrop for our lives. Tahoe, Pacific, the Bay, Puget Sound. Lake Michigan, Mississippi, Point Lobos, Yosemite Falls– what waters do you call home in your heart?

I invite you now to take a moment and enter into the chat box the names of those bodies of water that have special significance for You [Or a platform such as Mentimeter, or for in person, use slips of paper people place on a wall or easel]. [recommend music interlude]

May we recognize and keep these places in our hearts, renewing their connection to our souls.

The naming of the waters activity involves creating a collage of the names of water places held dear in people's hearts. Born during the pandemic, it is easily modified for on-land groups.
